Advanced Practice in Breastfeeding

Course Description

This stimulating 3-day workshop is for you if you have a foundation in breastfeeding practice and have experience working with breastfeeding mothers and their babies. Join your colleagues from around the country to get the latest updates in breastfeeding research from internationally-known instructors. You'll get the chance to work in small groups on complex case studies and discuss difficult breastfeeding issues. This course will help you find clarity in your patient and workplace lactation challenges.

This is a perfect opportunity if you are studying for the IBLCE exam or would like "L" CERPs for re-certification. Exam preparation and review of the exam blueprint are covered, with practice exam questions provided throughout the 3 days. The course also features short lectures using case study topics for exam review.

This course is not intended for those who have attended the 5- or 6-day lactation course in the last couple of years, unless you need CERPs or are reviewing for the IBLCE exam.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

22.5 CEUs are approved from:
- California Board of Registered Nursing
- International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners
- Commission on Dietetic Registration

Also approved for 27 L CERPs are approved from IBLCE

Breastfeeding and Human Lactation (3rd ed, 2004) by Jan Riordan
Breastfeeding: A Guide for the Medical Profession by Ruth Lawrence (this book is very "medical" in its writing and message)
