Graduate, Brandy MacDonald, CPM, LM

Brandy MacDonald"When I first began classes at SMS I held a vision of social change through childbirth, to a more peaceful and sustainable future. By starting classes at SMS, I believed that I was finally achieving my greatest life goal, to date, of becoming a midwife. My vision included being an active member in local community. I saw this as the key to a sustainable future. I knew my role in that community was midwife.  As I often told friends, 'Midwifery is my contribution to the revolution.'

My belief in community has grown stronger. My education at SMS has given my vaules names, and I leave with skills to make my visions reality. The skills I gained at SMS were of a first-rate medical training, to give me the confidence to let go, trust myself, and trust birth. More importantly, SMS honed organizational skills, helping me balance my midwifery career, my politics, my famiy, and my dreams.

I leave SMS with a sense that I will make a difference. I will make a difference in the lives of families I serve, the community of midwife-sisters, and in the world.”

Brandy has a private practice in Medford, Oregon.
