Childbirth Educator Training Background
The Childbirth Educator Training features a comprehensive and engaging educational experience to prepare excellent prenatal educators. Join us for a newly-revised blended curriculum with e-learning Study Guide, intensive
face-to-face learning, observation and teaching opportunities, exploration of a variety of teaching styles and methods
for adult learners and highly experienced instructors, including Simkin Center Senior Instructor, Penny Simkin.
The Simkin Center has prepared nearly 300 childbirth educators since 1997, many of whom are now leaders in the
profession.
Completion of the Childbirth Educator Training is the first step toward becoming a certified childbirth educator who is prepared to teach childbirth education, breastfeeding and newborn care classes in the hospital or the community. The course meets the standard for international certification through the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA). After completion, students are eligible to apply for retroactive approval for 24 ICEA contact hours. For
