Description:
Become a Certified Dancing for Birth Instructor or enhance and diversify your professional skills.
Learn how to energize and empower women in the childbearing year. We’ll dance our way
through a “language of movement” specifically designed to prepare for and facilitate birth and
celebrate new motherhood. You’ll enjoy yourself!

In this dynamic, interactive workshop, you’ll experience innovative techniques to enhance
your work with women during the childbearing year, learn how to use dance to facilitate birth,
understand which moves are most effective and why, gain new strategies for active birth
preparation, discover birth wisdom from ancient cultures and embody the joy of world dance
forms. No prior experience required—if you think you can't dance, all the more reason to attend!
Certification:
At the conclusion of the training workshop, participants will have completed step one of the
certifying process to become a Dancing for Birth Instructor. The workshop fulfills most of the
certification process. For complete information visit www.DancingForBirth.com or phone 866-643-
4824. Whether or not you aspire to become certified, you can use the skills gained during the
workshop to enhance your current work with pregnant and postpartum women.
Dancing for Birth prenatal and postpartum classes support healthy birth through a dynamic
combination of world dance forms, (including belly dance and African dance), and essential birth
wisdom. During weekly classes women tap into their inner wisdom and learn to harness gravity
to their advantage and move their bodies during labor for physically and emotionally satisfying
births. After giving birth, women continue benefitting from classes (wearing baby in a sling or
wrap) for postpartum fitness, information and community.
Course notes: you'll learn:
- The advantages of posture changes and the benefits of working with gravity
- Ways laboring women can reposition themselves to encourage correction of fetal mal-
position
- Circular and asymmetrical pelvic movements
- Characteristics of movements that facilitate labor
- Physiological reasons dance facilitates birth
- Psychological reasons dance facilitates birth
